MAT GOODKEY
Mat is a NASM certified personal trainer with a rounded fitness background. He trains athletes for particular sports, powerlifters, bikini competitors, weight loss, rehab, among other goals.
Mat was a professional athlete in the American Ultimate Disc League in the sport of Ultimate for two different clubs (The Ottawa Outlaws, and the Vancouver Riptide) as well as representing his country several times at different world championships. Studying how to perform better for this sport is what initially sparked his interest in the fitness world, and lead him to powerlifting. As a competitor he competed in the 75kg weight division of the CPL while playing professional ultimate at the same time.
Additionally, Mat is certified in FMS and Advanced Self-myofascial Release Techniques. Many of Mat’s clients come in to receive corrective prescriptions and myofascial work to help them perform better in their sport. He has developed a sequence of movement assessments that has proven itself effective client after client, inhibiting pain and unlocking strength through watching movement.
“I have a super holistic approach to training no matter what the goal. Everything movement-related is tied to the particular imbalances your body struggles with. It doesn’t matter if you’re a competitive powerlifter, or just trying to lose a few pounds. Helping you move with efficiency is priority number one in getting to where you want to be, and that’s what we emphasize in our programming and coaching.”
Mat is in the process of completing his certification as a Fascial Stretch Therapist, and with manual therapy sessions opening soon, be sure to book with him asap as there might be a wait list for these services!
